I have just completed the tenth iteration of my website and have decided that this is going to have to be good enough if I'm ever going to go live with it.

Part of having a good website is letting people get a sense of who I am and what it is that I have to offer in terms of service. I think a photography blog is a good way to introduce more content to my website without making the rest of my website too busy, so this is the first post of my photography blog.

Here comes some of the "who I am" part.

I am an artist, and one of my lifelong modes of artistic expression has been photography. This path has taken me through many styles such as Landscape, Event, Studio Portrait, Lifestyle, and Street Photography. I have come to the conclusion that I am a people photographer; I want people in my photographs. I still appreciate photography that does not feature people but I have noticed in my own photography that when I don't have a person somewhere in the image, it just doesn't have that element that holds me and makes it feel special to me. Having a niche is ideal for marketing so it makes a bit more difficult to have so many different styles of people photography that I love, but I am relieved to have narrowed it down to people.

It makes perfect sense that I prefer to photograph people because deep down, I just love people. I empathize; I use my imagination to see that when it comes down to the quality of a person's life, it really all has to do with how they feel about their life, and although we share the same feelings, the circumstances that stimulate those feelings can be vastly different. Your worst day could be someone else's best day. Bob Marley says "Who feels it knows it"

What I am trying to say is that when two people create a connection and start building together on a concept or simply recognizing in others the same emotions that you feel within your life, it is a bonding experience. It touches my heart and connects me with something bigger than myself, showing that we are not alone in this life.

Now you know that I love people and I want to spend my time sharing time with people but I have recently become aware that I am not as social as I would like to be. I'm a bit self conscious and don't always know how to approach people without a good reason. I have classified my condition to be a reluctant introvert. I go places where people are but often don't interact with anyone. On the occasion that I do approach a stranger and have a positive interaction (which is every time), I come away so pleased with what just happened. It's rather silly that I don't do it more often. So you see, being a people photographer doesn't just create income it gives me a reason to spend time with people and satisfies my soul.

My Intentions

My intention for this blog from here on out is to provide you with useful information about portrait photography, my process, how to be well prepared for a shoot and I want to share some examples of photography packages that I have created for some of my clients to help you envision what kind of shoot we can create to tell your story.
